Walter William Capes

Walter William Capes passed from this life February 5, 2014, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Waurika, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-seven. He was born July 19, 1926, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Milan "Bennie" and Ida Anatubby Capes.

Walter married Bessie Bernice Johnson on July 1, 1947, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked for the State of Oklahoma as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He was a member of the Waurika United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, his parents and two daughters - Renay Bridges and Phylis Delaney.

Survivors include: one son - Stanley Capes of Alabama; four grandchildren - Jaquie Dye of Ponca City, OK, Sandra Houston of Meridian, OK, Philip Shearer of Ponca City, and Shelley Showalter of Waurika, OK; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Capes will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Waurika United Methodist Church with Karen Slater officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
