Zena Kiser McIntyre George

Zena Kiser was born May 17, 1909, in Cotton County, Oklahoma, north of Hastings and passed from this life Tuesday, September 9, 2003, in Nocona, Texas, at the age of ninety-four. She was one of three sets of twins born to Tom and Maud Florence Kiser. There were twelve children born to this union. She grew up in Cotton County and attended school at Lone Star and Pecan Grove.

On December 25, 1927, Zena and Cammie McIntyre were united in marriage in Hastings, Oklahoma. The couple made their home there north of Hastings for two years before moving to Temple, Oklahoma. The couple farmed near Temple until Mr. McIntyre's death in 1950.

Mrs. McIntyre moved to Riverside, California and began working as night superintendent and cashier at March Air Force Base in Riverside. On January 25, 1953, she married Jim George in Riverside and the couple moved to Orange California where Mrs. George continued working for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach.

The couple moved to Midland, Texas in 1956, and remained there until 1972, when they moved to Waurika, Oklahoma. Mr. George preceded her in death on October 17, 1980. Mrs. George workedas receptionist at the Willis C. Worley and Sons Funeral Home until 1999.

Survivors include: two daughters - Evelyn McIntyre Harper of Nocona, TX, and Faye George Hankins of Midland, TX; five sisters; one brother; five grandchildren - Dawn Kitchens, Danell Hughes, Deirdre Hazle, Randy Hankins, and Tammy Brandstetter; eight great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.O. George and one twin sister Lena Arnold.

Funeral services for Mrs. George were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Audie Dorrough officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
