Marie Yvonne Miller

Yvonne Miller died January 8, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas, after a long illness.

Marie Yvonne Miller was the only child of Hubert and Leona Zellner Welch. She was born October 23, 1927, in Waurika, Oklahoma. She alwas preferred her middle name, which she pronounced EYE-von.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Waurika High School, and held a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma.

She married Eugene Henry Miller, Jr., on December 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1990. Mrs. Miller taught school at Kellyville, Tryon, Sugden, Waurika, Hastings, and Temple, Oklahoma, and Wichita Falls, Texas. She also operated a private kindergarten in Waurika for a number of years.

She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika, where she sang in the choir for many years and was a popular funeral soloist. She was a friend to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waurika.

Survivors include: three aunts - Mamie Morlan of Richardson, TX, Juel Lively of Waurika, OK, and Velma Holland of Wichita Falls, TX; one uncle, Cecil Welch of Fredericksburg, TX; one daughter, Nicki Etheridge of Waurika, OK; four sons - Rick of Troy, OH, Micky of Wichita Falls, TX, Dicky of Washington, OH, and Ikey of Wichita Falls, TX; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Miller were at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Waurika with Tommy Billings and Audie Durrough officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
