Woodrow Elkins passed from this life Friday, August 3, 2001, in the Jefferson County Hospital at the age of 83. He was born May 31, 1918 to E.C. and Hettie Drew Elkins at Squirrel Creek in Randlett, Oklahoma. Mr. Elkins married Stella Madeline Reid on October 29, 1938.
He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army. After serving in the Army he returned and worked as a butcher for Elkins Grocery. Mr. Elkins was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika.
He is survived by: four sons, Tommy and Greta Diehl of Lake Havasu, AZ, Dutch Elkins of Hastings, OK, Rusty and Sherry Elkins of Waurika, and Rick and Tracy Elkins of Kingwood, TX; two daughters, Linda Nicholas and her husband Nick of Clarksburg, MD, and Judy Burns and her husband Jimmy of Walters, OK; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, four brother - Robert, Carey, Frank and Wilson; and one grandson Ricky Elkins.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 2001, at 1:30 PM at the Waurika Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
