William Lee Thomas

William Thomas was born February 16, 1935 in Orange, Texas to Ira and Mollie McLain Thomas. He passed from this life Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the age of 78.
Bill was a gentle loving soul he was a wonderful friend that didn't speak a mean word about anyone. He served his country in the United States Army. Bill loved his friends at the VFW and always looked forward to the weekends so he could go visit with them and dance with the gals. Bill always spoke kindly of his neighbors and how they often shared food with him. He was very proud of being part Native American and shared many stories about his heritage. His hobbies included painting, drawing, tooling leather, and his love of rock hunting. He knew so much about various kinds of rocks and what states to go to for the best rock digs. Bill drove a truck across the United States, he had many chances to seek out those special rocks. Bill had many jars of rocks, most he had polished around his home and he always had a story about how he had collected those rocks - his granddaughters loved those stories and loved those rocks. Bill loved all pets but he had two cats to share his home and he always made sure they were vetted and well taken care of. Bill was looking forward to being at his granddaughter Keikei's wedding in July, he will be missed but will be remembered. Bill had an infectious smile and a hearty laugh and we will all miss him dearly but we are all blessed for the moments of life we shared with him.
He is survived by his daughter Dawn Maloney and husband Phillip, granddaughters - Shayna Connor and husband Thomas and Keikei Flores, great grandsons - Declen Thomas Connor and Ethan Robert Connor.
