William Ray Smart passed from this life on Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the age of 75, in the Jefferson County Hospital. He was born March 15, 1926, to Edmond and Minnie Mae Smart in Waurika, Oklahoma. William Ray married Dorothy Pritchard in 1948. He worked for Jack James as a painter and served in the United States Army.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Smart, of the home; one son - Lynn Smart of Waurika, OK; one step-son - Rudy Rivera; two daughers - Rebecca Cooper of Waurika, OK, and Mary Brackett of Sugden, OK; two sisters - Pauline Ross and Faye Bozarth, both of Waurika, OK; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Minnie Smart.

Graveside services for Mr. Smart were at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 4, 2002, in the Ryan Cemetery with Bro. Clarence Mize officiating. Burial was in Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
