Wendell Anderson Spencer,76,
of Comanche, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Duncan Regional
Hospital.
Services were at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, in the United Methodist
Church in Comanche with the Rev. James Kim officiating. Burial
was in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral
Home of Comanche.
Mr. Spencer was born November 16, 1924, in Healdton, to John Silas
and Sarah Rosetta Spencer. He married Hester "Cricket"
Hensley on April 15, 1946 in Gainesville, TX.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945. He was a member
of the United Methodist Church of Comanche and was a crane operator
for Sun Oil Co., retiring in 1979 after thirty-two years of service.
Wendell and his wife enjoyed traveling in their pickup and travel
trailer and going fishing.
Survivors include: his wife, Cricket, of the home; a daughter
and son-in-law, Gayla and John Kessinger of El Paso, TX; a brother
and sister-in-law, Diz and Dee Spencer of Tulsa, OK; a sister
and brother-in-law, Voncille and Lawrence Strecker, of Russell,
KS; a grandson, Eric Cooper; and three step-grandchildren, Kim,
Kris, and Kelli.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche United Methodist
Church.
