Wanda Lorene Collum Black Carter Wood

Wanda Lorene Collum Black Carter Wood, 82, passed away on April 10, 2011 in Oklahoma City. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, May 25, 1928. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Orbie and Lavonia Davis Collum, her sister, Dorothy Staggs, daughter, Rev. Paula Riddle and by husbands, Emerson Paul Black, Kenneth Carter and Edgar Aaron Wood, and step grandson Clay Ingram.

She is survived by her sister, Lil Ritchie of San Antonio, son, Jay Emerson Black and wife, Gail of Edmond and daughter, Sharon Ann Black McKay and husband, Alan of OKC. Grandchildren, Chad McKay and wife, Melissa of St Paul, TX., Michael Riddle and his wife, Megan of Tulsa, Lynsi Rhodes and husband, Ryan and Taylor Black all of Edmond. Great-grandchildren - Michaela McKay, McKenna McKay and Montana McKay of St Paul, TX. Wanda also has many nieces and nephews she adored. Step-children, Nancy Boudreaux and Judy Conard both of TX, Michael Wood, Mary Wood both of Wichita Falls, TX and Aaron Wood of Waurika. Step-grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Conard of Texas, Chris Wood and Porscha Lopez both of Waurika, Dustin Phillips, Josh Phillips and Zach Phillips and Braden Wood all of W.F, TX. Wanda has many step-great-grandchildren she loved!

Wanda went to Capital Hill High School. She attended East Central and UCO. Wanda owned and operated “Wanda’s Real Estate” in Waurika. She served as President of the Waurika Chamber of Commerce, on the board of the Methodist Church and was active in the Sorosis Club and she was President and held state level offices in the Business and Professional Women and Wanda was on the staff of the Junie Wood Convalescent Center. She moved to Oklahoma City in 2002. She was a recent resident of the Manchester House.

A funeral service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 438 East D Street in Waurika, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Sterling officiating. Burial will be in Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 PM at the funeral home.
