Vonda Jo West was born August 3, 1936, in Ryan, Oklahoma, to Clyde Penniston and Estel E. Conway. Vonda passed from this life Saturday, January 8, 2005, at her home in Ryan, at the age of sixty-eight. She and Raymon West were married May 25, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Vonda was the Ryan High School Principal/Superintendent's secretary until her retirement in 1994, after twenty-four years. She enjoyed painting, growing flowers, and collecting, but most of she loved spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ryan where she served as secretary/treasurer. She was a member of the Ryan Senior Citizens Board and Secretary of the Ryan Ministerial Alliance. She was awarded the Francis Jones Award in 1996, and named Mrs. Brickstreet in 2003.

Survivors include: her husband - Raymon of the home in Ryan, OK; one son - Kyle Ray and his wife Nancy West; one daughter - Ramonda Kay and her husband Jerry Smith of Waurika, OK; two brothers and sisters-in-law - Kenneth and Carol West of North Richland Hills, TX, and Norman and Louise West of Waurika, OK; five grandchildren - Denton and Micah Smith, both of Waurika, OK, Tanner and Morgan West, both of Ryan, OK, and Catlin Brezina of Norman, OK; and her mother-in-law - Ruby West Sain of Ryan, OK.

Vonda was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter - Deana Lynn Brezina, and one grandson - Brooks Brezina.

Funeral services for Mrs. West were at 3:30 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Ryan with Bob Waitman, Randy Allen, and Gary Dempsey officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan. Pallbearers were Mark Kunkel, John Burge, Eddie Pewitt, Tanner West, Morgan West, Denton Smith, and Caitlyn Brezina.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ryan First Baptist Church Youth Fund or the Ryan Senior Citizens Center.
