Viola Fay Thorpe was born June 23, 1926, inAlliance, Nebraska, to Mansfield George and Leora May Osborn. Vi passed from this life Saturday, February 5, 2005, at her home in Ryan, Oklahoma, at the age of seventy-eight. She and Lionel L. Thorpe were married in 1945 in San Diego, California. Vi and Lionel moved back to Ryan in the 60's. Vi was a homemaker, a member of the United Methodist Church of Ryan and also was secretary of the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include: three daughters - Jerri McCoy of Olympia, WA, Linda Marzik of Plano, TX, and Luane Reynolds of Duncan, OK; two brothers - Chuck Osborn and Demp Osborn, both of San Diego, CA; two sisters - Edna Grantham of Ryan, OK, and her twin Violet Loescher of Anchorage, AK; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thorpe were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Ryan with Rev. Steve Harshaw officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
