Vernon Dunn

Born March 29, 1918, in Caddo, Oklahoma to Nancy and Ed Dunn and died on April 2, 2002, after complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Helen; his son, Vernon Dunn, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Loco, Oklahoma; daughters Barbara Kinder and her husband Bob of Sherman, Texas, and Carolyn Knight and her husband Deral of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; sisters, Cleo Alexander of Duncan, Oklahoma and Laverne Cloughly of Seguin, Texas; brothers, L.J. Dunn of DeQueen, Arkansas and Chester Dunn of Billings, Montana; grandchildren, Jennifer and Patrick Kinder, Steven and David Knight, Perry Beaird, and several great-grandchildren.

Vernon spent many years in public service; fourteen years were spent as Stephens County Commissioner and eighteen years as an Oklahoma State Representative. During four of these years he served as Majority Floor Leader in the House of Representatives. Vernon had a passion for fair play and justice and held firm to his beliefs and convictions. He and Helen were able to devote more time after his retirement to doing what they loved best - raising quarter horses.

A memorial service was held for Vernon Dunn at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Loco, Oklahoma. You leave a void that will never be filled.
