Vernon Boyd Dean was born July 15, 1924, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Boyd and Bertha Wood Dean. He went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2008, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of eighty-three. He worked for a heating and air conditioning repair service and Piggley Wiggley Grocery Store for many years. He served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He and Juanita Jackson were married in Waurika, Oklahoma in 1943. She preceded him in death. He and Goldie Spencer were married Jan 19, 1958. She preceded him in death. He married Itaska Wirt July 28, 2001 in Waurika, Oklahoma.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one son Vernon Boyd Dean, Jr.

Survivors include: his wife Tack Dean of Wichita Falls, TX; seven daughters - Vernita Martinez, Lorraine Davis, Shirley Neal, Jackie Deerinwater, Michel Roberts, Stephanie Dean, and Neva Yeager; one brother - Richard Dean; one sister - Irene Jordan; twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Dean will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the Church of the Nazarene in Waurika with Richard Dean, Eric Roberts, and Shawn Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 6:00 PM, Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Waurika.
