Vernon Leon Brown was born May 21, 1921, in Walters, Oklahoma to Jess Thomas and Ercy (Hutchinson) Brown. Vernon passed from this life Sunday, August 15, 2004, at the Crestview Life Center in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-three. Vernon served his country in World War II in the Army. He was a member of the Waurika Assembly of God Church. He was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He and Lola Guinn were united in marriage on June 22, 1941, in Waurika, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death December 20, 1998.
Survivors include: one son,
Dennie and his wife Sandra Brown of Hastings, OK; two daughters,
Beverly Ann Short and her husband Eddie, of Byers, TX, and Kay
Broussard of Henrietta, TX; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers,
two sisters, and one son-in-law Robert.
Funeral Services for Mr. Brown were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August
18, 2004, at the Waurika Assembly of God Church with Kelly Martin
and Chris Brown officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery
under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
