Verlon Best Williams, eighty-three, of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed away on September 29, 2003, at Duncan Regional Hospital. He was born April 20, 1920, to Howard and Dorothy Reynolds Best at Comanche, Oklahoma.
Verlon and L.V. Williams were married in Duncan, Oklahoma, on November 16, 1940. To this union three children were born. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, loving wife for sixty-three years, and a mother. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
Survivors include: her husband, L.V. of the home in Comanche, OK; two daughters - JoAnn and her husband Bob White of Comanche, OK, Barbara Jean and her husband Norman Coates of Columbia, LA; one son - Ron and his wife Margie Williams of Urbana, VA; three sisters - Inez and her husband Lloyd Dodson of Lubbock, TX, Jean Sawyers of Comanche, OK, and Rosa and her husband James Tidwell of Comanche, OK; eight grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Comanche, Oklahoma, with Gary Smith officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Pallbearers were Joe Best, Jeff Best, Kelly Best, Jimmy Williams, Johnny Gallaher, and Jerry Gallaher.
