Velva Inez Settlemires, ninety-seven, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in Waurika. She was born May 5, 1910, in Wise County, Texas, to Henry and Belle Clayton Barnett. She worked at Bill's Fish House. She married Hugh Roosevelt Settlemires in 1927, in Waurika. He preceded her in death in 1972.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Belle Barnett, her husband Hugh Settlemires, two brothers - Hubert and Estel Barnett, and her sister Esther Barnett.

Survivors include: one son - Hugh Junior Settlemires of Waurika, OK; one granddaughter - Cathy Stewart of Waurika, OK; one great-granddaughter - Catonya Owens of Waurika, OK; one great-great-granddaughter - Hannah Owens of Waurika, OK; and one sister - Ivon Barnett Ferguson of Dallas, TX.

Funeral services for Mrs. Settlemires will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Clarence Mize officiating.
