Thelma Lorene Payne Neal
Thelma Lorene Payne Neal was born February 9, 1923 to Leonie Bea Majors Payne and John Herman Payne in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She passed from this life Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Seven Oaks Nursing Home at the age of 89.
She grew up around Davis, Oklahoma. She married Lester Lee Neal in Sulphur, Oklahoma on June 15, 1940. To this union was born two children Dora Bea Neal Watkins and Ramona Lee Neal Warden and Lester Leon Neal Jr. They made their home in the Waurika and Claypool communities in 1950. She worked as a seamstress, homemaker and child caregiver after retiring from Haggar Mfg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester Neal, son Lester Neal Jr., granddaughter - Darla Harrison Parsley and Great granddaughter Kalie Sierra Watkins, sisters - Frances Payne, Ruby Huggins, Estelle Rogers, Juanita Coppenbarger, Brothers - E. A. Payne, Doyle Payne, Jesse Payne and William Payne. Survivors include her daughters Dora Neal Watkins of Waurika, Oklahoma and Ramona Neal Warden of Magargel, Texas, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, brother - Johnny Payne of Duncan, Oklahoma, sister - Dorothy Watson, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mrs. Neal will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Jeff McLemore. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Monday from noon-8PM. Memorials may be made to the Solaris Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
