Sudie Grantham was born June 8, 1927, to Claude and Willie Belle Williams Grantham, in Ryan, Oklahoma, and passed from this life March 6, 2001, in Ryan, Oklahoma at the age of 73.
Sudie was a member of Ryan United Methodist Church and also a member of the Methodist Choir. She was an active PEO member, she worked for Coach Bud Wilkinson 1949-1952, at the University of Oklahoma and enthusiastically supported the OU football team for many years. Sudie was voted Big Woman on Campus at Oklahoma University, was a private music instructor and taught piano. She earned a BS degree in Music and received her Master's Degree in Counseling. Sudie was the soloist for many years at First United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi in the music department.
Sudie and Bill Sholer were united in marriage February 25, 1949 at McFarland Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born.
Survivors include one son, Chris and his wife, Jeanie Sholer of Edmond, Oklahoma; one daughter, Claudia and her husband Mike Yoselow of Edmond, Oklahoma; two brothers, Martin Grantham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Larry Grantham of Ryan, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jane Sholer of Edmond, Oklahoma, Timmy and Carla Yoselow of Edmond, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Billy Claude Grantham.
Funeral services were held at the Ryan First United Methodist Church Friday, March 9, 2001, at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Steve Harshaw officiating. Burial was in Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
