Burl Frances "Sonny" Latta was born May 8, 1939 in Waurika to Burl and Elizabeth Hensley Latta. He passed from this life Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Duncan at the age of seventy-one. He was a truck driver and farmer/rancher. He also enjoyed water skiing, raising baby calves, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika. He and Darlene Helm were united in 1959 and to this union were born three children.

He is survived by his three children - Hank Latta and wife Ferliece of Waurika, Debbie Brandon and husband Dan of Waurika, and Diane Camp and husband Calvin of Sterling; two step children - Kevin Thompson of Waurika and Eric Thompson of Oklahoma City; two sisters - Lauretta Long and husband Jeff of Hurst, Texas and Jane Belote and husband Tom of Ridgefield, Connecticut; thirteen grandchildren - Jarrod, Amanda, Paula, Brenton, Justin, Zac, Dakota, Blake, Staci, Hayden, Montana, Shelby, and Shaley; six great grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Burl and Elizabeth, stepfather Jack Wilson, wife - Shirley, grandparents Arch and Laura Hensley, and nephew - Arch.

Memorial service will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 at 1:00PM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10AM-8PM with family receiving visitors from 5-7PM. Memorials may be made to the Waurika Ambulance Service. The family would like to thank all of those who provided him with love and care over the last five years.
