Floyd Sonny Wallace Gipson was born September 20, 1939, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Harding and Fayzell Lewis Gipson. He passed from this life Thursday, December 2, 2004, at his home in Waurika, at the age of sixty-five. Sonny was cusodian for a church in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Survivors include: his mother - Fayzell Gipson, of the home in Waurika, OK; one son - Floyd Wallace Gipson, Jr., of Duncan, OK; three daughters - Debra, Adrian, and Lyndsi; two brothers - Jerome Gipson, and Loyd Gipson, both of Waurika, OK; one sister - Teresa Johnson of Lawton, OK; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and half-sister, Valerie.

Funeral services for Mr. Gipson were at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waurika, with Rev. Anderson and Rev. Brown officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
