Simon M. Kennedy passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at the age of 85. He was born April 15, 1916, to William Will Kennedy and Stella Melissa Gunter Kennedy near Ardmore, Oklahoma. Mr. Kennedy was valedictorian of Sugden High School in 1933. He was a long time farmer/rancher and was also Jefferson County Sheriff for ten years. He married Maxine Simon Kennedy, December 7, 1934, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Odd Fellows, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waurika.

He is survived by: one daughter - Carol and her husband Joe Harris of Waurika, OK; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine - February 11, 1981, one son Simon M. Kennedy - November 21, 2001, and three brothers.

Services for Mr. Kennedy were at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 26, 2001, at the Waurika First Baptist Church with Clarence Mize and Reed Montgomery officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
