Ruth Elizabeth Borum Hight, of Hastings, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, July 23, 2002. Born January 27, 1924, in Alma, Oklahoma, to Ernest T. and Maude W. Sawyer Borum, Ruth moved at an early age with her family to Hastings, Oklahoma where she grew up. She and Eugene E. Hight were married June 29, 1941, in Waurika, Oklahoma.
Ruth was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and was instrumental in the organization of the Hastings Senior Citizens' Center. Ruth loved her sewing and art.
Survivors include: her husband, of the home; two daughters - Carolyn Burton and her husband Don, of Lawton, OK, and Jackie Wood and her husband James, also of Lawton, OK; one son - Don Hight of Hastings; a brother and sister-in-law - Harvey and Frances Borum of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a brother - Jay Borum, and a grandson - Ryan Jay Wood.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 23, 2002, at 2:00 PM at the First United Church in Waurika with Rev. Reed Montgomery officiating. Burial was in the Hasting Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
Pallbearers were Craig Beavers, Kevin Hight, Sean Hight, Justin Wood, Rusty Borum, and Neal Borum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hastings Senior Citizens' Center.
