Ruby Inez Whitsett was born
June 13, 1926 in Buffalo Springs, Texas to Robert Michael and
Gracie Mae Quisenberry Sparks. She passed from this life Sunday,
August 17, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Waurika, Oklahoma,
at the age of eighty-two. She graduated from the Ryan, Oklahoma,
High School in 1944. She and Boyd Whitsett were married April
23, 1945, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Jefferson county
area and was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God church.
She attended Assembly of God in Terral, Oklahoma, until moving
to the Assembly in Ryan in 1943. She was a Sunday school teacher
for over thirty years and the women's ministry leader for many
years. She was a hard worker, working for various places including
M&N Variety Store, Brown Bros. Dry Goods, Moore's Grocery
Store, Tri-County, ASCOG, for the election board and as a caregiver
for many in the Jefferson county area.
Survivors include: her husband Boyd of the home in Ryan, OK; five
children - Sheneista and her husband Jim Gillum, Brenda and her
husband Paul Lewis, Kelvin Whitsett, Lloyd Whitsett and his wife
Connie, and Floyd Whitsett; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and
sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Whitsett will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday,
August 20, 2008, at the Assembly of God Church in Ryan with Rev.
Jim Gillum officiating. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery under
the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Visitation will
be Tuesday from 10: 00 AM to 8:00 PM with family receiving visitors
from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
