Ruby Mae Smith passed from this life Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Westbrook Nursing Home at the age of ninety-five. She was born July 25, 1908, to Simpson and Hattie Vanpelt in Rome, Georgia. She and Geddie D. Smith were united in marriage on February 4, 1929, in Byers, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Wayne and his wife Billy of Waurika, OK; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband Geddie D. Smith , and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the Waurika United Methodist Church with Reed Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Byers, Texas, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorials may be made to the Waurika United Methodist Church
