Ruby West Sain

Ruby West Sain, ninety-four, of Ryan, Oklahoma, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in the Ryan Nursing Home. Ruby Jewell was born May 15, 1910, in a dugout in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, to Nelle Mae Riddles and Mortimer Morgan Clark. She married Horace Dewey West in 1927. He passed away in 1953. Ruby married Eldy Sain in 1956. He passed away in 1985.

Ruby worked with Mr. West on the family farm in the Union Valley community of Oklahoma. After his death she cooked at the Union Valley School. When she moved to Ryan in 1956, she began her work as a nurse at the Ryan Hospital and the Waurika Hospital. The last five years of that work, she was considered an O.B. nurse, helping deliver many babies. She retired from the hospital to work for Dr. Heflin at his office in Ryan.

Ruby was active in the First Baptist Church in Ryan for many years, becoming a Christian as a teenager. She delivered Meals on Wheels for a time. She enjoyed going to the nutrition center for lunch during her last few years living at home.

Survivors include: three sons - Raymon of Ryan, OK, Kenneth and his wife Carol of North Richland Hills, TX, and Norman and his wife Louise of Waurika, OK; four grandsons - Kyle of Ryan, OK, Ted of Clifton, TX, Quana and Byron of Henrietta, TX; three granddaughters - Ramonda of Waurika, OK, Karen of North Richland Hills, TX, and Denise of Danville, CA; one great-granddaughter - Micah of Waurik, OK; and eleven great-grandsons - Tanner and Morgan of Ryan, OK, Denton of Stillwater, OK, Catlin of Norman, OK, Will and Wes of North Richland Hills, TX, Parker, Grady, Hayden and Zackary of Henrietta, TX; a sister - Barbara Hill of Wichita Falls, TX; a brother - Grady Clark and his wife Jean of Seguin, TX; a sister-in-law - Doris Clark of Ryan, OK; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. West, Mr. Sain, two brothers, one sister, her daughter-in-law, Vonda, a granddaughter, Deana, and a great-grandson, Brooks.

Memorial services for Mrs. Sain were at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Ryan, with Gary Dempsey officiation. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
