Richard A. Jones

Richard A. Jones was born the first of six children November 3, 1918. in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to Rev. Bert and Avo Williams Jones. He passed from this life Friday, May 18, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital at the age of eighty-eight. He attended Okmulgee Technical School for four years. Richard married Dorthy Hood December 10, 1941, in Checotah, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death. He married Pauline Smith June 29, 2003, in Waurika. He served his country in the United States Army under General Patton’s three armored division at Normandy Beech, France, Germany and Luxemburg, Belgium. He worked in construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Waurika Senior Citizens and a Life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Pauline, of the home in Waurika, OK; one son, Richard Dale Jones and his wife Sherry, of Waurika, OK; one daughter, Carolyn Stottlemire of Nederland, TX; eight stepchildren; three sisters, Deloris Smith of Wewoka, OK, Annabell Woods of Weir, KS, and Jean Doyle of Sand Springs, OK; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and twenty-five step grand and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones were at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Mike Lawler officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Hospital or the church of your choice.
