Kathryn Rebecca Burk, of Comanche, OK, was born September 7 in Electra, TX to W.A. Brooks and Bertha Ross Houshins Brooks. She passed from this life Monday, April 23, 2001 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Burk was the Jewelry Department Manager for Gibson's for fifteen years. She married Clyde Burk March 31, 1937, in Lawton, OK. He preceded her in death January 22, 1945. She married William Burk Lane November 15, 1948 in Wichita Falls, TX. He preceded her in death March 6, 1976. Mrs. Burk was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Comanche. She was a member of the Rebekka and Eastern Star chapters in Comanche, a member of the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association and also the Texas and Southwestern Cattleman's Association. She was a lifetime member of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.

She is survived by: one son, Rusty and Paula Burk of Comanche; one daughter, Gayle and Billy Cleary of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Weldon and Stella Brooks of Duncan, OK, and Jim and Laverne Brooks, also of Duncan; three sisters, Frances Williams of Dallas, TX, Helen Cole of Wolfford, TX, and Gladys Bess of Blanchard, OK; three grandchildren, Colby Cleary of Edmond, OK, Kacie Burk of Comanche, and Clay Burk, also of Comanche; one great grandchild, Waymon Scott Cleary of Edmond, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Nolan and Bernie, two sisters, Emma and Margaret and two grandchildren, Scott Burk and Billy Joe Burk.

Private family services were held Thursday, April 26, 2001, at 1:00 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche. Graveside services were held Thursday, April 26, 2001, at 1:30 PM at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche, with Rev. W.W. Harkins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
