Ray H. Powell

Ray H. Powell, 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away April 6, 2012, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. He was born February 22, 1928, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Edwina and Ray Powell.

He married Corinna (Hillery) Powell on June, 11, 1954, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He attended high school in Temple, Oklahoma and was a 1950 graduate of Oklahoma A&M, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Following the footsteps of his grandfather and mother, he worked as a banker for forty years. Throughout his career he was active in Lions Club and other civic work in Seminole, Hollis and Edmond, Oklahoma. He was treasurer in the Methodist Church and a member of B.I.L. His hobbies included golf, ranching and OSU Cowboy football. Ray was a private pilot and sailboat enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Edwina Powell.

Mr. Powell is survived by: his wife Corinna, of the home in Edmond, OK; his son Kyle Powell and his wife Sherri, of Okmulgee, OK; three daughters - Debbie Brooking of Tulsa, OK, Heather and her husband Brad Owen of Seattle, WA, and Courtney and her husband Jason Moore of Tucson, AZ; and nine grandchildren - Emily and Alex Brooking, Drew and Harrison Powell, Siam and Chai Owen, and Madeleine, Calvin and Greta Moore.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 3:00 PM at the Waurika Cemetery with Rev. Karen Slater officiating, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-2PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
