Peggy Jo Baker was born August 18, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Jonnie Florene Nelson and Lonnie Earl Riley. She passed from this life Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Ryan Nursing Home at the age of seventy-seven. She and John W. Baker were married March 10, 1948, in Weatherford, Texas. He preceded her in death November 20, 1989.

Peggy was an active member of the Church of Christ for more than fifty years. She was a florist and owned and operated Peggy’s Flowers and Ready to Wear in Ryan. She also owned and operated Baker’s Cash Grocery for many years in Ryan. She was also a member of AARP.

Survivors include: two sons - Johnny Ray Baker and his wife Naomi of Blanchard, OK, and Tom Baker and his wife Kathy of Terrell, TX; five grandchildren - Kimbre, Kaleb, Kenton, Lindsay, and Glory; two great-grandchildre - Hanna and Hazen; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and two special friends Cleta Smith and Eva Miller.

Funeral services for Mrs. Baker were at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Ryan Church of Christ with Lawrence Lewis and Rodger Schwenn officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
