Pauline Smith
Born in Waurika , Oklahoma on October 23, 1917, Pauline grew up with her two brothers, Carl & Lee Miller, and their mother and father, Uriah and Lorine (Doggett) Miller. They lived on a small farm west of Waurika near the Red River until the family moved to the family built hilltop home near highway 79. As an adult, Pauline worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City during World War II. She then lived in Devine, Texas until 1971 when she moved back to the family farm in Waurika. She loved to be outdoors in the garden, raise chickens, write “Bible Answers” articles for the Waurika News Democrat for nearly 28 years, make acquaintance with whoever she came in contact with, send birthday cards (up to 30 per month), and help the church. She was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she taught classes and Vacation Bible School in years past and participated in community outreach. Pauline was a musician in her own right: she played the piano for the care home and at the senior citizens’ center and she enjoyed playing the accordion and guitar for family and friends. She passed from this life on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her home in Waurika at the age of ninety–one. She was a special woman and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Pauline is survived by her eight children Jeanie Fulton, Floyd Fulton, Carl Fulton, Margaret Hannegan, Ruth Reich, Sam Vasquez, Rose Gutierrez, and Dan Miller and their families which include 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
