Patricia "Patty Lou" Isbell Sandlin was born January 30, 1928 in Wink, Texas to Zack and Ruby Doss Isbell. She passed from this life Monday, April 13, 2009 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of eighty-one. She and Jimmie M. Sandlin, Jr. were married September of 1946. He preceded her in death in January of 1991. She graduated from Paducah High School as class valedictorian. She attended Texas Christian University 1945-1946 and attended Midwestern University in 1958 and she graduated from Southwestern University in 1961 with her Ph.D in pharmacy. She worked in accounting for Southwestern Bell in San Antonio, Texas 1946-47. Head bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Paducah, Texas from 1948-1950, and assistant manager in sales at Isbell Drug 1951-1958. She was a relief pharmacist from 1961-1980. She was a consultant and pharmacist at Richard Memorial Hospital from 1978- 1980. She owned and operated Isbell Drug from 1980-1993, in 1992 the drug store celebrated 50 years. She was licensed in Oklahoma and Texas. In her lifetime she held all offices of the Eastern Star and she was Worthy Matron 1976-1977. She had received her 50 year pin. She was a member Kappa Epsilon and American Pharmaceutical Association and Texas Pharmaceutical Association, American Chemical Society, West Texas Pharmacy and the National American Retail Drugist Association. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Paducah and attended the Methodist Church in Waurika.
She is survived by her daughter - Melicia McFadden and her husband Lewis of Waurika, her brother - Jean Paul Isbell and wife Marjorie of Ft. Worth, Texas, niece and nephew - Janice Milligan of Ft. Worth and Darren Isbell of Ashville, North Carolina, cousins -Lucille Bohner of Burkburnett, Texas and Geneva Turner of Midland, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents in 1980, her husband in 1991, and son David Paul Sandlin in August 1988
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 10:00AM at the Presbyterian Church in Waurika with Dr. Trevor Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3:00PM at the Paducah Cemetery in Paducah, Texas under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be from 9AM-8PM Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Wichita Falls or the American Cancer Society.
