Opal Geneva Richardson, of Ryan, Oklahoma, passed from this life Saturday, January 3, 2004, in the Ryan Nursing Home, at the age of eighty-three. She was born October 6, 1920, in Grady, Oklahoma, to Elbert and Union America Whatley. She and Norman Richardson were united in marriage on November 5, 1938, in Ringling, Oklahoma. Opal was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ryan, and a member of the Ryan Senior Citizens. She worked for Haggar Slacks in Temple, Oklahoma.
Survivors include: one son - Dale Richardson and his wife Rose, of Ringling, OK; three daughters - Jean Spikes and her husband Jim of Wichita Falls, TX, Carolyn Martin of Lubbock TX, and Donna Brown and her husband Greg of Waurika, OK; three brothers - Eugene Whatley of Wichita Falls, TX, Lonnie Whatley of Chickasha, OK, and Loyal Whatley of Marietta, OK; two sisters - Dorothy Glenn of Ringing, OK, and Sybil Ashley of Lone Grove, OK; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Union America Whatley, her husband Norman on August 26, 2003, three brothers, Elven, Arbury and Hubert Whatley, two sibling at birth, and two grandsons, Allen and David Morgan.
Funeral services for Mrs. Richardson were at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2004, at the Ryan First Baptist Church with Clarence Mize officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
