Opal Erie Curington

Opal Erie Curington, 100, passed from this life November 9, 2012, in the Westbrook Nursing Home in Waurika, Oklahoma. She was born November 26, 1911, to Addison Dee and Martha Isabelle (Belle) Gregg Hestand in Vineyard, Texas.
Opal graduated from Byers high school in Byers, TX. Opal also lived in Willow Point, TX in which she had fond memories. She and Darrell Ree Curington were married January 1, 1938, in Jacksboro, Texas. After their marriage, They moved to Oakland, California, where they lived for over twelve years before moving to a farm near Waurika, OK in 1950. In 1966, they made their home in Waurika. Opal worked for a cannery in Oakland and later worked in several stores in Waurika. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Curington was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, her parents Dee and Bell Hestand, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son, Noel Curington and wife Kay of Waurika, OK; three grandchildren - Sherry and her husband Lance Waid of Waurika, OK, Gregg Curington and his wife Cindy of Yukon, OK, and Chereece Jackson of Searcy, AR; eight great-grandchildren - Evan Waid, Rayel Jackson, Shelby Jackson, Emily Waid, Sawyer Jackson, Wesley Jackson, Kellan Curington, and Makia Jackson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Curington will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Church of Christ in Waurika, Oklahoma, with Noel Curington, Gregg Curington and Lance Waid officiating. The family would like memorials be made to the Church of Christ youth program. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be Saturday November 10, 10:00 AM-8:00 PM and Sunday November 11, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM with family receiving visitors from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
