Opal Clara Cooper

Opal Clara Cooper passed from this life Thursday, January 15, 2004, in the Duncan Regional Hospital, at the age of eighty-four. Opal was born to Charlie and Myrtle Apple February 15, 1919, in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee. On January 3, 1937, she married Ira Jack Cooper in Comanche, Oklahoma. She worked as a sales clerk in Hick's and Crutcher's Department Store in Comanche for approximately thirty-five years. Opal was a member of the Oak College Home Demonstration Club, the United Methodist Women, and the Comanche Band Boosters. She was also a member of the Comanche First United Methodist Church, where she was a church communion stewarf for thirty-five years.

Survivors include: her husband Jack, of the home in Comanche, OK; three sons - Kent and his wife Sherry Cooper of Shawnee, OK, Dan Cooper of Stinnet, TX, and Sammy and his wife Phyllis Cooper of Duncan, OK; one brother - Charlie Wirt Apple of Comanche, OK; one sister - Alene Donna of Ada OK; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Myrtle Apple, a brother, Elton Apple, and a sister, Inez Haley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper were at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Comanche, with Duncan Dollarhite officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche First United Methodist Church.
