O'Dale Howard

O'Dale Howard was born January 31, 1925 in Ryan, Oklahoma to Albert H. Howard and Effie Brashears Howard. He passed from this life March 7, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 88.
Dale was raised on a ranch in Jefferson County, Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University and an Associate Bachelor of Science Degree from Cameron Junior College. He resided in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma City, Altus, Ft. Worth, Texas, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Waurika, Oklahoma. He served his country for two years in the United States Army in World War II as a Master Sergeant Radar Technician in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign in Hawaii. He participated in many community clubs including Rotary and Elks Clubs, American Legion, and Chamber of Commerce in Ft. Cobb and Altus. He was chairman of Livestock Shows in Fort Cobb and Altus. He was a member of the Oklahoma Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Cattle Raisers Association, Cattle Feeders Association of Amarillo, and was active in sponsorship of 4-H and FFA youth events. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Dale served as Instructor for on-the-farm training for Veterans at Fort Cobb. He was a farm representative for Washita Valley Bank of Fort Cobb, and Loan officer and Inspector for National Livestock Credit Corp of Oklahoma City and Vice President of National Bank of Commerce in Altus. He was the Assistant Treasurer and Vice President of National Finance Credit Corporation in Ft. Worth. He was Manager of the Texas Livestock Marketing Association in Ft. Worth. He was also an independent order buyer of cattle for various interests. He served as Vice President and Manager of Ag Capital in Wichita Falls and an independent cattle rancher in Jefferson County.
He is survived by his son Larry Dale Howard and wife Beth of Countyline, OK., daughter Mary Ann Wood and husband Mark of Burleson, Texas, mother of his children - Dorothy Ann Nowlin, grandchildren - Alexandra Fischer and husband Jon, Jeriad Wood and wife Abby, Sarah Stephens and husband Kevin, and Amanda Howard, great grandchild - Levi Stephens, brother - Aubery Howard and wife Sharon, and sister - Dorothy Saunders.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Eual J. Howard. Graveside service will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 1:30PM at the Waurika Cemetery with Rev. Karen Slater officiating. Services are under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10AM-noon at the funeral home.
