Nora Josephine Underwood
Nora Josephine Underwood was born December 2, 1929 in Hastings, Oklahoma to Jesse and Annie Fountain Bell. She passed from this life Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Westbrook Care Center in Waurika at the age of 83.
Nora and J. D. Underwood were married December 23, 1947 in Hastings, Oklahoma. Nora was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress and for Basco for many years. She was a member of the Hastings Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and her cats. She made a handmade quilt for every grandchild, great grandchild, and spouse of her grandchildren. Family was very important to her.
She is survived by her children - Weldon Scott Underwood and wife Peggy of Alex, Oklahoma, James David Underwood, Sr. and wife Sheilah of Ryan, Debra Lynn Dewbre and husband Dewayne of Waurika, Phillip Wayne Underwood and wife Linda of Huntsville, Arkansas, Dennis Michael Underwood of Ryan and Merrianne Underwood of Ryan, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - J.D., siblings - Virgil, Johnny Arnold, Juel, Velma, and Pearl, and great granddaughter - Angel Joy Dewbre.
Funeral services for Mrs. Underwood will be Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11AM at the Hastings Church of Christ with Bud Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Hastings Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 11AM-8PM with family receiving visitors from 5-7PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan.
