Nolan Floyd Rich, eighty-four, died Monday, March 12, 2007, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He was born November 26, 1922, near Decatur, Texas, to Willie R. and Martha Jane Rich. He moved to Waurika in 1933 and attended school at Waurika. Mr. Rich worked in the oilfield until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1944. He served at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, and at the Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and worked as a drywall installer for twenty-nine years. He moved back to Waurika in 1990. He married Ramona Taylor in 1991, and the couple made their home in Waurika until his death. He loved fishing and took long trips to South Texas with Ramona in their motor home to fish. He also loved working in his yard.
Survivors include: his wife, Ramona, of the home in Waurika, OK; six step-sons - Grover Taylor and his wife Linda, of Weatherford, OK, John Taylor and his wife Donna, of Fresno, CA, Robert Taylor of Carnegie, OK, Jerry Don Taylor of Henrietta, TX, Alan Scott Taylor and his wife Judy, of Lawton, OK, and James Taylor and his wife Janie of Kansas City, MO; three nephews; one niece; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and close family friends Bill and Sandy Reedy of Carnegie, OK.
Mr. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, six sisters, nieces and nephews, and his wives Nancy Ona Hammner and Mary Velma Silva.
Funeral services for Mr. Rich were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation was Tuesday, March 13, 2007, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, March 14, 2007, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Funeral Dinner Fund.
