Nickolasa Carranza Torrez
Nickolasa Torrez, 80, of Ryan, Oklahoma, passed from this life Friday, August 7, 2015, at the Westbrook Nursing Home in Waurika, Oklahoma. She was born February 25, 1935, in Texas, to José and Alejandra Villalobos Carranza. She married Raymond Torrez on August 27, 1951. They lived in Texas for several years then moved to Arizona and then on to California where they settled in Colton, where they raised their six children.
Nickolasa enjoyed being a mother and wife but her real joy was her grandchildren. She loved sewing and embroidery and making quilts for them and her great-grandchildren. In 1990, they relocated to Ryan, Oklahoma where she lived out her remaining years. She loved traveling to see her kids and grandchildren in California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond on January 8, 2014, one brother José Carranza, one son Johnny Torrez, and one granddaughter Tina Torrez.
Survivors include: Four sons - Raymond Torrez and his wife Patricia of Ryan, OK, Ricky Torrez of Ryan, OK, Jimmy Torrez of Oklahoma City, OK, and David Torrez and his wife Lisa of Riverside, CA; one daughter Diana Arellano of Sherman, TX; Theresa Torrez Varela of Waurika, OK; thirty-one grandchildren; and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Torrez will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika, Oklahoma, with Kelly Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ryan Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family in attendance from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Torrez, Daniel Arellano, Jr., Joseph Arellano, Jesse Torrez, (B) Raymond Torrez, and Dale Williams, and Ruben Arellano and Regina Arellano. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Ray Torrez, René Torrez, Lorenzo Torrez, Ricky Lee Torrez, Jesse Joe Torrez, Colton Torrez, Martin and Lola Galindo, Lydia De La Rosa, Babera Negrete, Richard and Edie Gaviria, and Carol Cockrell.
