Neoma Ellabelle Hawley Schaffner was born March 26, 1919, in Vernon, Texas, to John Henry and Stella Henderson Hawley. Mrs. Schaffner passed from this life Monday, May 29, 2006, at her home in Waurika at the age of eighty-six. Neoma and Herman Schaffner were married November 10, 1978, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She retired from North Texas State Hospital where she worked in patient care.

She is survived by her husband Herman of the home in Waurika; four sons – Rex Koontz of Ft. Worth, TX, Dirk Koontz of Wichita Falls, TX, Jimmy Schaffner of Burleson, TX, and Sammy Schaffnee of Thornberry, TX; two daughters – Becky Duncan of Jacksonville, FL, and JoAnna Dyer of Waurika, OK; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four nieces; and ten nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Schaffner were at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 1, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Bro. Kelly Martin officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
