On Sunday, March 24, 2002, Gladys Muriel Percival passed from this life at Duncan Regional Hospital at the age of 76.
G. Muriel Percival was born July 28, 1925, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to John and Jocie Wainscott. She married Walter I. King in 1943, and moved to Comanche. One son, Paul E. King, was born to this union. She and Walter owned and operated King's Cleaners until his death in 1949.
In 1952, Muriel married Herb O. Percival of Duncan, Oklahoma, and gained a daughter - Linda. To this union a son, Tom, was born in 1958. She and Herb owned and operated several businesses - Comanche Cleaners, Western Auto, Comanche Heating and Cooling, until his death in 1978. Muriel was a lifelong member of the Comanche Church of Christ. She loved crafting and painting while being very devoted to Comanche and her many friends there.
Survivors include: one daughter - Linda Williams Tate and her husband Ron, of Oklahoma City, OK; two sons - Paul King and his wife Trish, of Bend OR, and Tom Percival and his wife Carmen, of Comanche, OK; one brother-in-law - Howard Percival and his wife Juanita, of Marlow, OK; three sisters-in-law - DeLois Schwenn and her husband Bob of Marlow, OK, Jean Caperton of Oklahoma City, OK, and Anna Wainscott of Pampa, TX; seven grandchildren - Tyler Percival, Madison Percival, Matt Williams, Mandy Rankin, Annie Williams, Brandon King, and Ian King; and two great-grandchildren - Jackson Williams and A.J. Rankin.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husbands - Walter King and Herb Percival, her mother and dad, her much-loved in-laws - Emery and Betty King and Claude and Clara Percival; one brother, Odie; three sisters - Verdie Lokey of Waurika, OK, Dorthy Cullar of Long Beach, CA, and Joyce Brown of Walters, OK; and one son-in-law - Dr. Jeff Williams of Chickasha, OK.
Funeral services for Mrs. Percival were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Comanche Church of Christ. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
