Mildred (Richardson) Gass Berry Porter
Mildred was born October 4, 1923, in Waurika, Oklahoma, the first of five children to Claude and Hazel (Thompson) Richardson, and passed from this life August 12, 2020, at her home at Ashbrook Village in Duncan, Oklahoma.
She attended school in Sugden, Oklahoma and graduated from Waurika High School in 1942. She loved to sew, cook, garden, travel and fish. She was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday school class for many years and was awarded a "Golden Crayon Award" for over forty years of teaching Bible School.
Mildred had three wonderful husbands that preceded her in death, Billie Ray Gass (December 25, 1960), Robert Leon Berry (October 29, 1982) and O.R. "Dude" Porter (September 20, 2014).
Survivors include: her daughter Claudine and her husband Ken Smith of Hastings, OK; granddaughter Kerri Glasgow and great-granddaughter Kenan Glasgow of Temple, OK; her sister Opal Ward of Saginaw, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and a bonus family Donna and husband Jon Bunn of Houston, TX, and LaJuana Porter of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren - Melissa, Amy, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Neil, Craig, Matthew, K.C. and Chelsey; seven great-grandchildren - Katie, Jack, Kiela, Mia, Caleigh, Reagan, and Ryland; and her Ashbrook Village family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three husbands, one brother John Richardson, two sisters Helen Edwards Welch and Mary Penny, and bonus son Raymond Porter.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Hastings Baptist Church with Charles McConnell officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika, from noon to 7:00 PM, Friday, August 14, 2020, with the family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Hastings Baptist Church.
