Troy Mikehail "Mike" Gilchrist
Troy Mikehail "Mike" Gilchrist passed away Wednesday January 28, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Mike was born February 3, 1944, to Troy Alcie "T.A." Gilchrist and Letha Roberta Roark Gilchrist in Grand Prairie TX.
A longtime resident of Ryan, Mike was a member of the State Champion 1962 Ryan Cowboy Basketball team. Mike was a charter member of the Lambda Psi Omega Fraternity at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and graduated from Southeastern in 1967 Upon graduation Mike joined Campbell Taggart Bakery and worked in many of their facilities in quality control and facilities maintenance. Mike later joined Otis Engineering /Halliburton and was instrumental in the development and implementation of coiled tubing technology in the oil industry. Up to his retirement Mike traveled the world as an employee of Halliburton and BJ Services Coiled Tubing Division in continued improvement and training of the coiled tubing process
Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years Connie Dunham Gilchrist. He is also survived by his daughter and son in law Nanette and Bret Foster of Lewisville TX, a daughter Mikehail "Mickie" Williamson of Blum TX, 6 grandchildren: Mikeal "Derek" Williamson and his wife Jessica; Madison Williamson, Nicolaus Vannostran, John "Ryan" Foster, Courtney Foster, Kaelynn Foster and one great grandchild Kimber Lauren Williamson, brother and sisters in law, James and Sharon Dunham, Dick and Donna Dunham, Larry Huerter and uncle and aunt Gordon and Georgia Gilchrist.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents T.A. and Roberta Gilchrist, Sister Marcheta Huerter and his "special angel" granddaughter Dianna Lauren Vannostran.
The service will be officiated by Steve Spangler; serving as pallbearers will be Derek Williamson, Nicolaus Vannostran, Ryan Foster, James Raulston, Jarred Shaffer, and Dylan Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1962 Ryan Cowboy Basketball Team and other longtime friends Butch Barrett, Guy Dillon, Roddy Gordon. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 31, at the First Baptist Church of Ryan OK with burial to follow at the Ryan Cemetery. Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan, OK, will hold a visitation on Friday, January 30 from 3:00PM-8:00PM, where the family will receive friends and visitors.
