Melvyn Lewis Wirt was born to Lewis Alvin and Gertrude Wirt in Waurika, Oklahoma, on April 24, 1925. He passed from this life on July 1, 2001 in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Melvyn married Bonnie Mae Duncan in Waurika Oklahoma and worked until he retired from Safeway. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Melvyn is survived by: his wife, Bonnie, of the home; one daughter, Mel Harris of Snowmass, CO; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one son, Sherrill Lewis Wirt, his parents and one brother.

Graveside services were held at the Waurika Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 5, 2001, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika with Curtis Plant officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
