Melvita Ruth Foster was born April 28, 1941 in Handley, Texas, to John Lewis and Ona Lee Floyd. Melvita passed from this life Saturday, October 2, 2004 in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of sixty-three. Melvita was a retired elementary school teacher. She received her BS from TCU and Masters degree from Texas Tech University. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Waurika, Oklahoma, where she was the organist for many years. She was also a member of the Texas Teachers Association. She was married to John Warren Foster. He preceded her in death February 7, 2000.
Survivors include: her mother, Ona Lee Floyd, of Waurika, OK; one brother, Dr. John Floyd and his wife Barbara; one nephew, Mathew Floyd; two nieces, Karen and Ann; and two aunts, Nettie Ruth Cowan and Lois Cochenour.
Funeral services for Mrs. Foster were Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the First Christian Church in Waurika with Curtis Plant officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
