Melvin Orval England was born September 28, 1919, in Fleetwood, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Mary Pennington England. He passed from this life Monday, November 29, 2004, in Waurika, Oklahoma. Melvin and Vera Alice Hughes were married in 1938, in Henrietta, Texas. She preceded him in death January 10, 1985. He worked on farms in California and Oklahoma for many years. He also worked in plumbing with his sons. Melvin was one of seven children. His three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include: seven sons - Gerald, Jim, and Joe England of Ft. Worth, TX, Wayne of New Mexico, Ray of Wichita Falls, TX, and Harry and Tom, both of Waurika, OK; four daughters - Faye Wood of Ryan, OK, Laurie Hicks of Madill, OK, Elaine Good of Azle, TX, and Eloy Black of Waurika, OK; thirty-two grandchildren; and fifty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons - Charles and Donald Gene, and one daughter - Jane.
Graveside services for Mr. England were at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 3, 2004, at the Oscar Cemetery with Noel Curington officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
