Maxine Tripp was born November 16, 1930, in Hastings, Oklahoma, to Edward L. and Cleo F. Griffin Smith. She passed from this life Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Jefferson County Hospital at the age of seventy-seven. Maxine and Jack L. Tripp were married February 9, 1949 in Waurika, Oklahoma. She was the Jefferson County Assessor and also a teller for Waurika National Bank. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Hospital Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Wayne Lawson and one sister Betty Colburn.

Survivors include: her husband Jack of the home in Waurika, OK; three daughters - Terri Lynn Tripp of Tulsa, OK, Sharon Kay Tripp Bates of Dickinson, TX, and Karla Ann Tripp Ware and her husband Steve of Richardson,TX; one brother - Edward W. Smith and his wife Nina of Cincinnati, OH; and two grandchildren - CWII Greg Bates and his wife Melissa and son Aiden of Clarksville, TN, and Kellie Bates Constance and her husband Jimmy and son James of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tripp will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Waurika with Rev. Trevor Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving visitors from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
