Marlin Tidwell

Marlin Tidwell, age eighty-five, formerly of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Duncan, Oklahoma, where he had lived for the past ten years. Marlin was born in Hulen, Oklahoma, January 13, 1920, to Jack and Ella Tidwell.

At a young age his family moved to Comanche, where he lived until he joined the Army in 1943. Marlin was with the 82nd Engineers combat battalion, serving in Europe until his honorable discharge in 1945.

Marlin was a member of the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local 41, in Pittsburgh, PA, for a total of fifty-three years. He married Bessie Johnson in Illinois, in 1954. After retirement in 1971, he and Bessied moved to Comanche where he lived until moving into Heartland Plaza in Duncan in 1995. Marlin was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Duncan.

Survivors include: one brother - Randel Tidwell of Comanche, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, in 1997, three sisters, and three brothers.

Graveside services for Mr. Tidwell were at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with Dow Pannell officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
