Mary Dunham was born February 7, 1916, at Earlsboro, Oklahoma, to Fred and Lizzie Price Dunham, and passed from this life Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Ryan Nursing Home, at the age of eighty-seven.

Marie and George Alford were united in marriage August 20, 1939, in Sterling, Oklahoma. To this union a child named Kay was born. Mrs. Alford was a retired educator who taught in area schools at total of forty-one years. She taught in the Ryan school system for thirty years, two years in Terral, six years in Sterling and three years in Beaver Valley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ryan, Oklahoma for fifty-six years.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bill Wallace of Lawton, Oklahoma; one grandson - Jamie Edwards of Lawton, OK; one granddaughter - Stacy McGlory of Lawton, OK; and two great-grandsons - Alec and Riley McGlory of Lawson, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her husband.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Alford at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Ryan with Trey Smart officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Cemetery at 2:00 PM, March 27, 2003, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
