Margie Mary Heflin
Margie Mary Heflin was born to Ben and Artie Beula (Horn) Mullin on June 4, 1923 at Pampa, Texas. She passed away peacefully on November 8, 2013 at Waurika, Oklahoma.
She lived the majority of her life in Ryan, Oklahoma. She grew up in Wheeler, Texas, graduating from Wheeler High School. She was a drum majorette in high school. In her twenties she learned to fly airplanes, and she flew a solo flight from Boulder City, Nevada to Alaska. In her younger years she also enjoyed bowling, and she bowled a perfect game in league play. In her spare time and in retirement years she found great joy in her flower gardening. She was a gracious host and excellent cook that made great pies and cakes. She was a long time member of the Ryan Methodist Church. She was a friend to all who met her, and she was a favorite “grown up” of many children . Her first husband was William A. Ford Jr. From this marriage one son was born, William A. Ford III. Her second husband was William A. Heflin, M.D. Dr. Heflin and Margie owned and operated the Ryan Clinic for many years. She was a lab and x-ray technician, and she also had many other duties. She excelled at operating the clinic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William A. Heflin, M.D.; brothers, Clayton "Moon" Mullin and Odas Mullin; sisters, Etta Mae Parrish, Artie Lee Robison, and Alice Ellison; stepbrothers, Bill and John Marshall; and stepsister Mildred Wilson.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law J.B. and Doris Mullin; her sister-in-law Margaret(Susie) Creveling, her sister-in-law Dorothy Miracle and husband Pete; her son and daughter-in-law William (Bill) and Janice Ford; her stepchildren John Heflin and wife Lauren, Katrina Bramhall and husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Michael Bramhall, and Dorothy Soter and husband James; grandchildren, Brian Ford , Lindsay Gowan and her husband John; step-grandchildren, Calli, Ian, and Mason Heflin, Erin, Kara, and Kristen Bramhall, George and John Soter; her great-grandchild Lucinda Gowan; her step-great-grandchildren Callie White, Ashtyn Terry and her husband Derek; her step-great-great-grandchildren Jade and Teagan Terry; and many nieces and nephews. She had many wonderful caregivers the last few years of her life. A special thanks to her most recent caregivers Nan, Yolanda, Marietta, and Birdena. The family would also like to extend thanks to Stephen Hoch PAC, Jefferson County Hospital, and Good Home Health Care.
There will be a memorial service on November 30, at 2:00 at the Ryan Methodist Church. She will be missed by many. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Ryan Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
