Margaret Cramton

Margaret Cramton, known to many in the Waurika area, joined her family in heaven on February 14, 2006, at the age of ninety-one. She had been residing in Austin, Texas, so she could be close to her daughter Sharon. Margaret was born in Chandler, Oklahoma, March 22, 1914. She graduated from Chandler School in 1932, and earned her bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma State University in 1936. She married Carl Lester Cramton on August 23, 1936, and was married for fifty-thress years. They had three children, Larry, Lester, and Sharon. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma. She received recognition for teaching the Five Year Old Sunday School Class in Baptist congregations for over fifty years.

Margaret always called Chandler, Oklahoma, home; but loved living in Waurika. Prior to moving to Waurika in 1963, she was an associate home economist working with Native American families in Kay, Noble and Pawnee counties. She was the Jefferson County Home Economist for 14 years, working closely with the 4-H Clubs. She retired from the OSU Extension Service after 20 years.

Survivors include: her daughter Sharon and her husband Jerry Harris; her daughter-in-law Sue Cramton; grandchildren - Lester Carl Cramton, David Cramton, Chad Cramton, John Harris, and Terri Carter; great-grandchildren - Michael, Brittany, Carl, Lance, Mollea, Abigail, Heather, Barry Shelby, Courtney, Gary, Renee, and Rusty; and four great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Carl L. Cramton; twin sons, Larry Cramton and Lester Cramton; grandsons, Michael Larry Cramton, Mark Clayton Cramton; parents, William L. and Mary Jane Johnson; sisters, Opal Morse, Maurine Johnson and Jo Rector; and brother Ben Johnson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cramton were at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma with Rev. Clarence Mize officiating. Burial was in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren - Lester, David, Chad, and Johnny, and great-grandchildren - Michael and Carl. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waurika.
