Maggie L. Smith passed from this life Friday, December 10, 2004, at Texhoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of eighty-seven. She was born in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to John and Minnie Brumley Ledford February 7, 1917. Maggie and Joe Smith were united in marriage October 29, 1938, in Oklahoma. She helped Joe farm in Hastings, Oklahoma and later worked at McClurkans Department Store in the cosmetics department. She was a longtime member of Fairway Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, which they have called home since 1960.

Survivors include: one daughter - Jolene and her husband Stan S. West of Wichita Falls, TX; two grandsons - Jeff K. West of Cedar Park, TX, and Scott S. and his wife Danna West of Wichita Falls, TX; one great-grandson - Matthew West of Wichita Falls, TX; and two brothers - Ted Ledford of Fletcher, OK, and Jay Ledford of Lawton, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and one brother.

Graveside services for Mrs. Smith were at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 10, 2004, at the Waurika Cemetery with Rev. Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
